An “all-in-one” lead conversion platform like Podium sounds like the ideal solution to your customer communication issues. At first.
But what does Podium cost? The platform doesn’t make this easy to answer. You can’t find Podium’s pricing on its website.
That’s why this guide uses Podium’s last known public pricing from 2025. A peek into its plans reveals a confusing mix of hidden fees and paid add-ons that make it harder for growing businesses to scale.
In this article, we unpack Podium’s pricing, features, and limitations to help you make a more informed decision. We also offer an alternative option with simpler pricing that lets you better serve your customers.
Podium pricing and plans at a glance: What you get and what you’re missing
Podium launched in 2014 as a reputation management platform, but it’s evolved to offer lead management features, as well. With Podium, you can track all customer interactions in one place so you can better qualify and manage leads.
It’s also expanded to offer AI-powered voice agents, chatbots, and a VoIP phone service. That sounds appealing if you’re struggling to improve customer relationships across multiple channels. But once you dig into Podium’s pricing, you may find it’s not the right fit for your small or growing business.
Let’s take a closer look at each Podium pricing plan side-by-side, based on its last public pricing from 2025:

*Podium charges one credit per SMS and three credits per MMS
Core plan
Pricing: $399 per month
Who it’s best for: Businesses looking to boost their online reputation and manage communication across different channels in one place.
With the Podium Core plan, you’ll have a centralized platform to manage customer interactions across review sites like Google Reviews and social media apps like Facebook Messenger.
Key features include:
- A Lead Conversion Platform that brings your forms, texts, calls, and emails together in one place
- Mobile app for iOS and Android
- SMS and MMS support
- Connect your Google Business Profile to respond to Google reviews inside Podium
- Connect your Facebook Business Page to your Podium inbox to reply to messages
- 250 credits for bulk marketing messages per month; Podium charges one credit per SMS and three credits per MMS
- Automated AI Review Responses that can automatically write and post replies to Facebook and Google reviews
- A phone system that requires a paid add-on if you want your team to make and receive customer calls
- Webchat
- 200 integrations, including ActiveCampaign and Angi
- One-on-one personalized onboarding
So, what’s missing? With a Core Plan, you can’t access their AI agent, even as an add-on. That means you’ll have to upgrade to a Pro Plan if you want an AI tool that can respond to leads instantly and take calls when your team is busy. Podium does have a VoIP phone system, but it’s only available as an add-on. You’ll have to pay extra if you want your team to make and receive customer calls from their own phones.
Pro plan
Pricing: $599 per month
Who it’s best for: Businesses that want to automate lead management.
The Pro plan builds on the Core plan with more advanced AI and customer communication tools. Here’s an overview of what you’ll get:
- AI agent that can automatically answer the phone, manage reviews, and offer text-based support; Podium only makes this available as an add-on
- Podium AI agent can automatically send to customers during conversations to answer FAQs via AI Instant Answers
- AI Text Marketing Generator, which can write personalized marketing texts to customers
- 500 credits for bulk marketing messages per month
- Automatic Lead Routing, which lets you auto-route customer messages to your team based on their availability
- Text-based surveys
The Pro plan may include more features, but it’s still limited. For instance, you won’t get discounts on its desk phones unless you upgrade to a Signature plan, assuming your business still uses desk phones. You also can’t use all of Podium’s AI voice agent features without an upgrade. This includes its AI Scheduler that automatically collects appointment details from your clients. Plus, you’ll still have to pay for an additional 500 credits if you want to send more than 500 bulk messages in a month.
Signature plan
Pricing: Not publicly available; custom quote required
Who it’s best for: Large or complex enterprises that need advanced customization and reporting.
The Signature plan unlocks a few more of its AI agent features. You’ll also get access to discounts on hardware.
Here’s a breakdown of Signature plan features:
- AI Scheduler that allows your AI agent to automatically schedule appointments
- AI Salesperson that lets your AI agent communicate with leads across all your channels, like responding to your Instagram DMs
- AI Marketer, which lets your AI agent use customer data to send targeted marketing messages at specific times, such as a discount on a product
- Discount on high-volume bulk messages
- Discount on Podium phone plans
- Discount on Podium desk phones
- Quarterly business reviews with your dedicated customer success manager
Even with Podium’s most expensive plan, there’s a lot missing. You won’t get essential VoIP features like, international calling or the ability to send MMS messages from toll-free numbers. It’s also missing tools like a visual call flow builder, making it harder to set up call routing based on your team’s schedule or business hours.
Podium’s paid add-ons and other fees to know
Podium’s “three-tiered” pricing setup looks straightforward. But its lack of transparent pricing should serve as your first red flag. There are still a few other paid add-ons and hidden fees that make it hard to know exactly what you’re getting into:
- No international calling on Podium Phones. Podium’s VoIP phone system add-on lets your team members make and receive calls over the internet. However, you should know that it doesn’t support international calling.
- Phone seats. As part of the Podium Phones add-on, you’ll have to pay for each team member who needs to make and receive calls. The plan is $30 per user per month for fewer than five users and $25 per user per month for five or more users. You also have to pay a $500 network optimization fee per location.
- AI agent. You’ll need the Pro plan to access Podium’s AI agent. Even then, you still have to pay for an add-on. And you won’t have access to all the AI agent’s features unless you upgrade again. Another issue? There’s no public pricing available for its AI agent.
- Bulk Messages one-time add-on. The Core and Pro plans come with a bulk messaging limit. If you go over that limit, you’ll have to pay for a monthly add-on to get up to an additional 10,000 credits per month per location.
- US carrier registration fees. Most Podium plans come with a Low Volume registration fee of $5 per location per month. If you plan on sending 2,000 to 200,000 texts, you’ll need to pay the High Volume registration fee of $20 per location per month.
- Voice AI. With a Pro plan, you’ll get 300 minutes of Podium’s AI voice agent. If you go over those minutes, you’ll have to pay for overages billed at Podium’s current rates. Keep in mind that the pricing isn’t public, so you’ll have to contact its sales team to get an estimate.
- AI Messaging. Podium’s AI voice agent can send texts to up to 1,500 segments. You should know that one segment is 160 characters, and if your message exceeds this limit, it’ll be split into multiple messages. If you go over your allotted number of segments, you’ll be billed at Podium’s current rates.
- Desk phones. These are available with the VoIP phone system add-on. You can access discounts on desk phones, but only if you upgrade to the most expensive plan.
- Automations. Podium lets you send automated messages triggered by events, such as appointment reminders for upcoming bookings. It includes 4,000 message segments per month, with additional segments billed at Podium’s current rates. Pricing isn’t public.
Quo: A more effective alternative to Podium
If reputation and lead management are your biggest priorities, Podium might make sense for you. But if you’re hoping to improve your overall business communication in a scalable way, it leaves a lot to be desired.
That’s why so many small and growing businesses prefer Quo, formerly OpenPhone. Let’s look at some of the major advantages Quo has over Podium.
1. Transparent and flexible pricing

It’s much easier to know what you get with Quo’s straightforward and transparent pricing, which starts at $15 per user per month. You can also upgrade or downgrade your Quo plan at any time.
2. Easily work together as a team when calling and texting

Missing customer calls and texts becomes a thing of the past with shared phone numbers. Team members can make and receive calls from the same number, so it’s easier for them to share responsibility for front-line service.
But when you use Podium’s phone system, you’ll notice that every teammate’s phone rings at the same time when a call comes in. You can’t control ring order like you can with Quo.
With Quo, you can decide how incoming calls reach your team with different ring orders. For instance, you can set up phones to ring:
- All at once. Every team member’s phone rings simultaneously.
- In random batches. You can randomly ring reps in batches until someone answers.
- Custom ring groups. You can choose which team members get incoming calls first.
3. Unlimited calls and texts to the US and Canada
With Quo, you get unlimited calls and texts to the US and Canada on every plan. This means you’ll never need to upgrade based on usage. Not so with Podium. You’ll have to track how many texts your team sends to avoid paying for an add-on or upgrade.
Each user you add to your Quo plan also gets one free local, US, Canadian, or North American toll-free phone number. Plus, you can call and text internationally; all costs are listed on our international rates page.
4. Save time with third-party integrations

Quo connects directly to tools you already use like your CRM or appointment scheduling app. This includes popular platforms like Zapier, Make, and Jobber. Integrations like these allow you to save time on repetitive tasks.
For instance, Quo’s HubSpot and Salesforce integrations can log calls and texts automatically. This helps keep your CRM up to date and keeps your team on the same page when interacting with customers.
5. Send texts faster with texting automations

Customers don’t wait for follow-ups the way they used to. These days, if they don’t hear back from you right away, they move on to your competitors. You can solve that problem by using texting automations.
For instance, Quo’s texting automations let you:
- Send auto-replies for missed calls, texts, and voicemails so a lead never falls through the cracks.
- Schedule messagesso customers only receive texts at the best time and in their time zone. This also allows you to stay TCPA compliant and avoid fines.
- Create reusable message snippets so you can send common texts quickly and consistently.
6. Answer every phone call with Sona, your AI voice agent

An AI voice agent like Sona ensures you never miss a call, even after working hours. Sona takes messages, captures leads, and answers FAQs. It can even send SMS during live calls. For instance, Sona can send a text that includes links to direct callers to your booking software to make an appointment.
Unlike Podium’s AI voice agent, Sona is available with any Quo plan. You can turn it on or off at any time and place it within specific points in your call flow so it can handle calls after hours or just when your team is busy.
Sona can also help your team qualify leads. For example, after a call ends, Sona will generate an AI call summary your reps can quickly read and decide whether the caller is worth their time to follow up.
Another plus to using Sona: you get charged per call. When you use Podium’s Voice AI agent, on the other hand, you get billed per minute. That means you’re going to pay more for longer, complex calls.
Quo vs Podium: Feature and pricing comparison
If you’re okay with hidden fees and a confusing pricing structure, you might find Podium to be an okay fit. But pricing isn’t the only way that Podium falls short. Podium’s also missing essential phone system features that’ll make it easier for you to improve customer relationships.
Let’s see how Quo and Podium compare side-by-side.

What users say about Podium
Don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what real customers have to say about why they switched to Podium alternatives:
“I’ve used Podium, Quo, and RingCentral. Quo is 10x better than the other two. Podium is the worst.” — Tim R., X (Twitter)
“Highly expensive and shady billing practices. They promise the world and fail to deliver, but you get locked into 12 months, so you can’t even cancel once you realize how bad the software is.” — Kyle H., Trustpilot
“Did not like the features, felt like customer service was lacking.” — Julie S., Capterra
Which plan makes sense for your business?
Your communication needs are as unique as your business, so you need a platform that’s the right fit. Here’s how Podium’s plans stack up depending on the type of business you run — and how Quo compares.
Small and local businesses
Small and local teams usually need a simple way to handle calls, texts, and customer conversations without juggling multiple tools.
Let’s see whether or not Podium’s and Quo’s plans support small and local businesses:
- Podium, N/A: Podium’s plans aren’t really suited to small and local businesses handling everyday customer conversations. The platform focuses mainly on messaging leads and review management. For example, if your team wants to handle customer phone calls, you’ll need to set up Podium’s phone system add-on.
- Quo Starter plan: Teams can use Quo’s Starter plan to share a business number and handle calls and texts together in one place without paying for an add-on. That way, everyone can see conversations, respond to customers, and follow up on leads in one SMS inbox — without switching tools.
Agencies and consultants
Agencies often need to collaborate on client communication and keep track of conversations across multiple team members.
This is how Podium’s and Quo’s plans differ for agencies and consultants:
- Podium Core plan: Routes messages from leads from different channels, such as Instagram, into one place. This can help businesses ensure no potential clients slip through the cracks, and they can keep their revenue consistent.
- Quo Business plan: Makes it easier for agencies to manage client communication as a team. It includes AI call summaries, so you can quickly understand what happened on a call and follow up faster with a proposal or any other action items. You’ll also get access to CRM integrations, so your CRM becomes a single source of truth for all client interactions. For example, Quo’s HubSpot integration automatically logs texts, voicemails, and summaries to the right contact or deal record in HubSpot.
Multi-location businesses
Businesses that want a multi-location phone system usually need a reliable way to direct calls and messages to the right location or team. Podium and Quo take different approaches to this type of business:
- Podium Signature plan: Lets teams manage multiple locations from their inbox in the Podium mobile app. You can switch between locations to see messages for each store or office. Its Inbox Reports also let you filter by location to see where new leads are coming from.
- Quo Business plan: Helps multi-location teams stay aligned on customer communication. You can create nested phone menus to route calls to the right location and assign different numbers to each office.
As a Quo customer, Owen Wible from Cornerstone Caregiving explains:
“Quo ensures visibility across everyone in the office, making sure there are no gaps in our communication. Their commitment to innovation makes sure that automation and AI work alongside our team without getting in the way, even across our 300+ locations.”

Enterprises
Larger organizations typically need communication systems that support growing teams and more complex workflows. For enterprise teams, the differences between Podium’s and Quo’s plans become clearer:
- Podium Signature plan: Its enterprise plan appeals to businesses that still rely on desk phones across offices or call centers. At this level, Podium offers discounts on desk phones for teams setting up its phone system.
- Quo Scale plan: Better suited for organizations that need to scale communication across larger teams and locations. AI call tags help teams quickly understand why customers are calling. Dedicated onboarding and inbound phone support make it easier to roll the system out across bigger teams.
Quo: A better alternative to Podium plans

So, what’s our final verdict? A platform like Podium sounds ideal if you’re laser-focused on review management and want to route all messages you get on social media into one place. But its pricing model doesn’t suit growing businesses that want to scale. It’s also not the right solution if you want to make it easier for your team to send a lot of customer text messages.
We recommend Quo instead. Quo’s transparent pricing makes it simpler to scale as your needs change. Its intuitive phone system and AI agent allow you to qualify leads and respond to customers faster. Best of all, it’s constantly evolving to help your business build better customer relationships.

FAQs
If you hit your bulk message limit on Podium, you can upgrade your plan or buy its bulk messages one-time add-on. Keep in mind that pricing for this add-on isn’t public.
Podium isn’t a full CRM system. It centralizes customer conversations and captures lead information. But it doesn’t include essential CRM features like deal tracking. You may still need a separate CRM tool if you choose Podium.
Podium starts at a higher base cost of $399 per month. That’s higher than most business phone systems, which often offer transparent pricing. Podium also layers in extra costs with credit-based messaging and paid add-ons. That complicated pricing model makes it hard for small or growing businesses to budget in advance or scale sustainably.
